the Aero Club of East Africa
"Home to aviation in Kenya since 1927"
Situated
on Wilson Airport, Nairobi, the heart of all private and commercial
light aircraft activities in the country, the Aero Club offers
a friendly atmosphere where pilots, engineers and enthusiasts
can get together, exchange ideas and relax in comfortable surroundings.
Aero
Club
The airfield
itself is a short distance from the center of town and on the
edge of the Athi Plains, with simple access to the Nairobi National
Park and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
Since its inception, the Aero Club of East Africa has been at
the forefront of aviation activities in the country: basic flying
training, competitions, air shows, safety seminars, navigation,
and so on. As the
aviation world has grown and evolved, so too has the Aero Club.
The
View Across To The Airfield
We are justifiably proud
of our history and the contributions made to general aviation
in Kenya. Today the Aero Club of East Africa continues
to be a voice for the aviation community, keeping the regulators
on their toes to ensure a safe and pleasant flying environment.
The first in a series of aviation seminars was held in the
conference room of the Aviation Centre on 6 June 2007 and
was attended by 17 pilots ranging from 20 hours to 9500 hours
experience. Present were different SPL and PPL holders, and
pilots from Samaritan's Purse, Safarilink and Airkenya. A
range of subjects was discussed, including:
Access to Wilson from the west
Conflicts between VFR and IFR traffics
Radio communications
SE and NE access lanes and their visual references
Bird strikes and how to avoid them
Use of GPS in marginal weather
Emergency situations and how to deal with them
Ditching
